Otherwise, quite and dry conditions with warming temperatures are expected next week. && .SHORT TERM...Tonight through Sunday night A trough of low pressure is progressing east with northwest flow over the CWA. This will bring mostly quite and dry conditions for the weekend under party cloudy to mostly skies. Overnight lows will mostly be in the 30s with light winds. Meanwhile, a weak upper-level disturbance may bring a 10% chance of light valley rain showers and mountain snow showers mainly to northern Nevada tonight and Sunday morning. Otherwise, dry condition will persist for much of the day Sunday with afternoon highs warming into the mid 50s to mid 60s. Winds will be breezy out of the west- northwest during the afternoon with gusts up to 20 mph possible. .LONG TERM...Monday through next Friday. An upper level low is expected to move southeast and be just off shore of the Pacific Northwest states on Monday. Light rain and snow showers will develop during the Monday timeframe mainly across portions of northern Elko county. Winds will become breezy to locally windy across much of the forecast area. Some of the windier, lee-side locales will gust to 45 mph. Highs will be in the 60s in northern Nevada with warmer temperatures in the 70s in central Nevada. Showers will diminish during the overnight with lows in the 20s and 30s. On Tuesday, the flow becomes more west to east with light showers possible along the Idaho border for the afternoon. Winds will be out of the west and northwest with the strongest winds felt in northern Nevada, with speeds of 10 to 20 and gusts to 30 mph. Highs will be again in the 60s in northern Nevada with warmer temperatures seen in the 70s in central Nevada. Conditions will improve in the north during the overnight with quiet and calm conditions in central Nevada. Lows will be in the 20s and 30s. Models are bringing a shortwave trough Wednesday with another round of light showers in the northeast. Highs will cool due to a cold frontal passage with highs in the 50s and 60s. Winds will be breezy to windy with gusts to 30 to 40 mph. Quiet conditions are expected to be in the 20s and 30s. Isolated showers continue in the north for Thursday and Friday with gradually warming conditions in the 60s and 70s. Lows will be in the 30s and 40s. Winds will be breezy to locally windy each afternoon. && .AVIATION...VCSH is possible over the KWMC terminal, otherwise, all locations will see VFR conditions for the next 24 hours. Winds will be gusty at KPTH through the early evening, then diminishing. && .HYDROLOGY...Elevated flows continue across many streams, creeks, and rivers throughout northern and central Nevada due to snow melt and recent rainfall. Cooler temperatures are expected the next few days, including freezing temperatures at night at higher elevations, which will likely slow high elevation snow melt. There will be opportunities for light rain and higher elevation snow showers across northern Nevada through the first half of the week but hydrologic impact should be minimal as wetting rains are not expected. The Bruneau River is currently in action stage and is forecast to remain in action stage through next week. The Humboldt River at Battle Mountain is currently in minor flood stage and is forecast to gradually rise in the coming days. The Humboldt River at Comus is currently in minor flood stage and is forecast to gradually rise in the coming days. The Owyhee River near Wildhorse is currently in minor flood stage. The river is forecast to remain in minor flood stage through next week. The Owyhee River near Mountain City is currently in minor flood stage.
