Dry again on Friday with slightly cooler temperatures and some breezy westerly winds in the afternoon and early evening. && .SHORT TERM...Today through Friday night. The dry northwesterly flow aloft continues over NV today with temperatures trending around 5 degrees warmer than yesterday, with most valley locations in the 70s to low 80s this afternoon. Low temperatures tonight into Friday morning will also be warmer, with mid 40s to low 50s. A dry cold front coming out of the Pacific Northwest early on Friday will pass SE across NV Friday morning and afternoon, which will help to cool temperatures down by around 5 degrees. There will be some weak instability across the southern most portions of the CWA Friday afternoon, including southern White Pine county and northeastern Nye county where cumulus clouds are expected to build, though not expecting any showers or thunderstorms to develop. Dry conditions continue across the CWA through Friday night. .LONG TERM...Saturday through next Wednesday. Upper pattern remains active thru the long term period as a series of shortwaves move thru the PacNW from the northwest and impact Nevada. Low probabilities for precipitation, 10 to 25 percent, during the afternoons for various portions of the forecast area. Better push from the northwest mid week with a deep closed low likely moving thru the PacNW, though timing of this event currently various between numerical solutions. Otherwise continued afternoon northwesterly breezes will be present with gusts 20 to 30 mph. Daytime high temperatures will be mostly in the 70s with low 80s across portions of central Nevada Saturday while overnight lows reside mostly in the upper 30s to upper 40s. Cooler temperatures in place early next week with daytime highs in the mid 60s to mid 70s and overnight lows in the low 30s to low 40s. && .AVIATION...VFR conditions are expected for the next 24 hours. Light west winds (less than 10 knots) will develop during the day on Thursday across northern Nevada with even lighter northwest winds at KTPH and KELY under mostly clear skies. && .HYDROLOGY...Above normal temperatures will enhance melting of the remaining high mountain snowpack over the next several days, with increased flows expected on several area creeks and rivers. The Bruneau River, Owyhee River at Mountain City, and Jarbidge River near Jarbidge are currently in action stage, and are expected to slowly rise with the continued above normal temperatures for the next few days.
