The except may be parts of eastern Iowa where a few showers and rumbles of thunder may be heard before precipitation chances fully exit the state eastward. Otherwise, expect seasonably highs in the 70s and northwesterly winds for most. Tonight and beyond: Southerly winds overspread the state through the overnight and into Friday, helping raise high temperatures into the lower 80s in most cases. Winds will also be a bit breezy over northwest and northern areas where sustained winds will likely be around 15 to 20 mph with a few gusts in the 20s mph. Saturday too shapes up to be mostly dry, but a cool front that will move across the state may provide enough oomph to spark off a few scattered storms by the afternoon and early evening. Those chances are on the low end at this point in time. By Sunday and into next week, the pattern picks up with multiple rounds of thunderstorms appearing in the forecast, including the potential for some stronger to severe storms, though details remain hazy at this point in time. Temperatures will ease back from their Saturday peak into the mid 80s, settling back into the 70s through next week. $$
