Light showers continue to make their way through the area early
this morning. This is associated with warm air advection and a
warm front that is sitting to our south. These light showers will
slowly work east as the morning goes on and will push out by the 
afternoon. These showers have dropped a few hundreths in spots in 
the western part of the area and that trend will continue with 
them. Once the showers move out we may get a brief break in the 
clouds and highs will warm into the 80s except over the Plateau 
where it will stay cooler. 

Things are looking quiet for us over the weekend as the upper
level ridge amplifies to our east and an active pattern of short
waves sets up to our west over the Plains. This will bring warming
temperatures with highs in the mid 80s. An increased pressure
gradient over the area will bring breezy southerly winds with wind
gusts 25-35 mph Saturday afternoon. The gradient will loosen up 
for Sunday but we still can expected wind gusts up to 20 mph in 
the afternoon.

Across Tennessee...temperatures are near 61 degrees west and near 54 degrees central. Current sky conditions are mostly cloudy west and light rain central. In the west, relative humidity is near 72%, and the dew point is near 52 degrees. In the central part of the state, relative humidity is near 90%, and the dew point is near 51 degrees. Winds are from the south at 5 mph west, where conditions are favorable for spraying. Winds are from the east at 8 mph central, where conditions are not favorable for spraying due to light rain. Winds are unavailable east. Based on current available observations, the highest temperature is 61 degrees at Memphis International Airport. The lowest temperature is 54 degrees at Nashville and Clarksville.

APRIL 26TH HISTORIC WEATHER EVENTS ...1834... Killer frosts were reported in the Deep South. The frost was quite severe around Huntsville AL, and highlighted a backward spring in the South that year. (David Ludlum) ...1978... An unusually strong occluded front swept out of the Gulf of Alaska and produced the first April thunderstorm of record at Fairbanks.
