A large area of low pressure will continue to bring scattered 
showers to far eastern North Dakota and northern Minnesota this 
morning. Showers will end during the day today, along with winds 
decreasing. Afternoon highs today will be in the 50s to mid 60s 
across the Northern Plains. 

It will be mainly dry for the middle of the work week, with
temperatures trending warmer. Widespread highs in the 70s are
expected by Thursday. The weather will then trend cooler and
wetter for the end of the work week and for next weekend.

Current Agricultural Weather Conditions in South Dakota
Based on observations at 800am CDT, Tuesday April 23, 2024

Across South Dakota...temperatures are near 36 degrees west, near 45 degrees central, and near 50 degrees east. Current sky conditions are not available west, sunny central, and mostly sunny east. In the west, relative humidity is near 75%, and the dew point is near 29 degrees. In the central part of the state, relative humidity is near 65%, and the dew point is near 34 degrees. In the east, relative humidity is near 46%, and the dew point is near 30 degrees. Winds are from the west at 8 mph west, where conditions are not favorable for spraying due to not available. Winds are from the northwest at 17 mph central, where conditions are not favorable for spraying due to strong winds. Winds are from the northwest at 16 mph with gusts at 26 mph east, where conditions are not favorable for spraying due to strong winds. Based on current available observations, the highest temperature is 50 degrees at YANKTON. The lowest temperature is 36 degrees at RAPID CITY and BUFFALO.

 DAY ONE  Today and tonight.

Today will be another day with gusty winds with gusts up to around 
40 mph, decreasing during the afternoon hours. The winds will again 
bring the potential for elevated fire danger where fuels have not 
sufficiently greened.

Areas to widespread frost expected tonight, with temperatures falling
to the low to mid 30s. 

 DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN  Wednesday through Monday.

Isolated strong to severe storms are possible Thursday night into 
Friday.
