Widespread highs in the 70s are expected today, with increasing 
chances for showers and thunderstorms this afternoon into 
tonight. An isolated strong to severe storm is possible, mainly 
in western South Dakota. The weather will then trend cooler for 
the end of the work week and into the weekend, with continued 
decent chances for measurable rainfall Friday through Sunday for 
most areas.

Across South Dakota...temperatures are near 63 east. Current sky condition is light rain east.In the east, relative humidity is near 48%, and the dew point is near 43 degrees. Winds are unavailable west. Winds are unavailable central. Winds are from the south at 18 mph with gusts at 32 mph east, where conditions are not favorable for spraying due to strong winds and light rain. Based on current available observations, the highest temperature is 66 degrees at BROOKINGS. The lowest temperature is 54 degrees at HURON.

 DAY ONE  Tonight.

Showers and storms are expected this evening and night. Storms are 
not expected to be severe but look to bring beneficial rainfall 
between a quarter to three quarters of an inch, highest over 
northwest Iowa.

 DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN  Friday through Wednesday.

Strong to severe storms are possible on Friday. The greatest threat
with any storms that form is large hail up to half dollar size,
damaging wind gusts, and a tornado or two. Additional rainfall of a
half an inch to an inch is possible.

Spotter activation is not expected at this time.
