ON THE WEATHER MAP... A WEAK FRONTAL BOUNDARY WILL TRACK ACROSS SOUTH CAROLINA TODAY BRINGING ANOTHER ROUND OF SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS TO THE AREA. SLIGHTLY DRIER AIR WILL MOVE INTO THE REGION TONIGHT AND TUESDAY WITH A BREAK FROM THE SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS FOR MOST OF THE AREA ON TUESDAY AFTERNOON AND NIGHT. DAYTIME TEMPERATURES WILL CONTINUE A DEGREE OR TWO BELOW NORMAL THROUGH WEDNESDAY WITH OVERNIGHT LOWS NEAR NORMAL.

Across South Carolina...temperatures are near 59 degrees west, near 59 degrees central, and near 59 degrees east. Current sky conditions are mostly sunny west, partly sunny central, and cloudy east. In the west, relative humidity is near 33%, and the dew point is near 30 degrees. In the central part of the state, relative humidity is near 80%, and the dew point is near 53 degrees. In the east, relative humidity is near 87%, and the dew point is near 55 degrees. Winds are from the north at 22 mph with gusts at 30 mph west, where conditions are not favorable for spraying due to strong winds. Winds are from the north at 13 mph with gusts at 21 mph central, where conditions are not favorable for spraying due to strong winds. Winds are from the north at 12 mph with gusts at 28 mph east, where conditions are not favorable for spraying due to strong winds. Based on current available observations, the highest temperature is 61 degrees at Greenwood. The lowest temperature is 56 degrees at Florence and Darlington.

HISTORIC WEATHER EVENTS

Thane Creek AK reported a snow cover of 190 inches. (The Weather Channel)

The worst tornado disaster of record occurred in Chicago IL as a tornado
killed 28 persons and caused three million dollars damage. (David Ludlum)
...1997...
Ten tornadoes tore across the area, affecting the Kentucky counties of 
Adair, Metcalfe, Casey, Green, Larue, Marion, Hardin, Hart, Nelson, and 
Russell; and the Indiana counties of Scott and Jefferson. Two of the 
twisters produced F3 damage. A 28-year-old woman was killed in Metcalfe 
County as she was thrown from her destroyed mobile home. A 40-year-old man 
was killed when his house in Bonnieville (Hart County) was hit by one of 
the F3 tornadoes and blown off its foundation. This tornado injured many 
people when it caused several car accidents as it crossed Interstate 65.
