Showers over the southeast will move away to the east early this
morning. Much drier air is moving in from the west, and should
help to clear the sky up for a brief time this morning, before
clouds pop back up over the northern mountains. A few of these 
clouds in the north could make a light shower late this morning 
and afternoon. But, any showers should be fleeting and should
hardly wet the ground. The west wind will become gusty with
sustain speeds increasing to 15 to 20 MPH and gusts peaking over
30 MPH, especially on the higher hills. Highs today will be in the
lower 40s close to Erie and Warren, and in the mid 60s in
Lancaster and Philadelphia.

Temperatures will drop close to or even below freezing tonight
over much of northern and western PA. There is also a potential 
for frost to form in the central mountains where temperatures will
get down into the 30s. Even though the wind does die down, 
varying cloud cover and the residual wind may make it difficult 
for frost to form there. The southeast should stay mild enough to
not have a worry for frost tonight.

The wind picks back up a bit on Sunday while a mostly cloudy 
morning will give way to a mostly sunny afternoon for most of the 
Commonwealth. Highs should be in the 50s for most. 

Frost is again possible on Monday morning thanks to a mainly 
clear sky and the diminishing wind.

Across Pennsylvania...temperatures are near 51 degrees west, near 50 degrees central, and near 51 degrees east. Current sky conditions are cloudy west, cloudy central, and light rain east. In the west, relative humidity is near 39%, and the dew point is near 27 degrees. In the central part of the state, relative humidity is near 55%, and the dew point is near 34 degrees. In the east, relative humidity is near 96%, and the dew point is near 50 degrees. Winds are variable at 3 mph in the west, where conditions are favorable for spraying. Winds are coming from the northwest at 10 mph in the central, where conditions are favorable for spraying. Winds are coming from the south at 6 mph in the east, where conditions are not favorable for spraying due to light rain. Based on current available observations, the highest temperature is 53 degrees at Reading, North Phila, Lancaster, and Harrisburg. The lowest temperature is 44 degrees at Franklin and Bradford.

HISTORIC WEATHER EVENTS

A spring storm produced unusally heavy snow in northeast Ohio. Warren
received 35.5 inches in thirty-six hours, and 28 inches fell at Green Hill.
Akron OH established April records of 15.6 inches in 24 hours, and 26.6
inches for the month. Pittsburgh PA established April records of 12.7
inches in 24 hours, and 13.5 inches for the month. (David Ludlum) (The

Tornadoes in Mississippi and Alabama killed 219 persons. (David Ludlum)

An unseasonably warm and moist air mass had settled across eastern Kentucky 
leading to record breaking temperatures at the Jackson Weather Office and the 
London Corbin Airport between the 16th and 21st of April. Jackson saw several 
days in a row with record high temperatures as well as maximum low records. On 
the 19th the mercury soared to a record high of 89 degrees at Jackson and a 
record tying 87 degrees at London. The low temperature at Jackson was a balmy 69 
degrees good enough for a daily as well as a monthly maximum low temperature
