Low pressure passing off of the east coast will bring lingering
rain today across Southeast Pennsylvania, while partial clearing
works into the western and central part of the state. Highs today
will range from the mid 40s over the northern mountains, to the 
low 50s over most of the commonwealth. 

A weak area of low pressure diving across the Ohio Valley could
spread a few rain or snow showers into the extreme southwest
corner of the state tonight, while fair weather prevails
elsewhere. Lows tonight will range from the upper 20s over the
northern mountains, to the upper 30s in Philadelphia.

Expect sunny and breezy weather Friday with seasonal temperatures.
Highs will range from the mid 40s over the northern mountains, to
the mid 50s in the southern valleys.

Across Pennsylvania...temperatures are near 40 degrees west, near 41 degrees central, and near 50 degrees east. Current sky conditions are sunny west, mostly sunny central, and cloudy east. In the west, relative humidity is near 50%, and the dew point is near 23 degrees. In the central part of the state, relative humidity is near 52%, and the dew point is near 25 degrees. In the east, relative humidity is near 86%, and the dew point is near 46 degrees. Winds are variable at 6 mph in the west, where conditions are favorable for spraying. Winds are coming from the northwest at 6 mph in the central, where conditions are favorable for spraying. Winds are coming from the north at 8 mph in the east, where conditions are favorable for spraying. Based on current available observations, the highest temperature is 51 degrees at Lancaster. The lowest temperature is 37 degrees at Mount Pocono and Johnstown.

The worst tornado disaster of record occurred in Chicago IL as a tornado
killed 28 persons and caused three million dollars damage. (David Ludlum)
...1997...
Ten tornadoes tore across the area, affecting the Kentucky counties of 
Adair, Metcalfe, Casey, Green, Larue, Marion, Hardin, Hart, Nelson, and 
Russell; and the Indiana counties of Scott and Jefferson. Two of the 
twisters produced F3 damage. A 28-year-old woman was killed in Metcalfe 
County as she was thrown from her destroyed mobile home. A 40-year-old man 
was killed when his house in Bonnieville (Hart County) was hit by one of 
the F3 tornadoes and blown off its foundation. This tornado injured many 
people when it caused several car accidents as it crossed Interstate 65.
