Current Agricultural Weather Conditions in Oklahoma
Based on observations at 600am CDT, Tuesday April 16, 2024

Across Oklahoma...temperatures are near 69 degrees west, near 70 degrees central, and near 70 degrees east. Current sky conditions are clear west, partly cloudy central, and light rain east. In the west, relative humidity is near 69%, and the dew point is near 58 degrees. In the central part of the state, relative humidity is near 84%, and the dew point is near 65 degrees. In the east, relative humidity is near 81%, and the dew point is near 64 degrees. Winds are from the southwest at 8 mph west, where conditions are favorable for spraying. Winds are from the south at 16 mph with gusts at 28 mph central, where conditions are not favorable for spraying due to strong winds. Winds are from the south at 20 mph with gusts at 36 mph east, where conditions are not favorable for spraying due to strong winds and light rain. Based on current available observations, the highest temperature is 71 degrees at WILEY POST. The lowest temperature is 55 degrees at CLINTON.

AREA  Mainly Far Eastern Oklahoma and Northwest Arkansas.
ONSET  Ongoing.

AREA  Eastern Oklahoma and Northwest Arkansas.

AREA  Mainly Northeast Oklahoma.
ONSET  This Afternoon.

DISCUSSION  
Scattered showers and a few thunderstorms will continue to move
east across the area this morning in advance of a Pacific cold 
front. There is a low chance that a storm or two may become 
severe, mainly across far eastern Oklahoma and northwest 
Arkansas. Damaging winds will be the main severe weather threat.

Gusty southwest winds will follow the passage of the Pacific cold
front, and humidities will fall, especially across northeast
Oklahoma. This will raise fire weather concerns this afternoon,
especially to the west and north of Tulsa where spring green-up
has been less significant.

EXTENDED DISCUSSION  
Thunderstorm chances will return to parts of northeast Oklahoma 
and far northwest Arkansas late Wednesday night, with storm
chances increasing Thursday into Thursday evening area wide as a
strong cold front moves across the area. A few of these storms may
become severe, with large hail and damaging winds being the main
threats. The front will stall just south of the Red River Friday 
and Saturday, with showers and a few thunderstorms remaining 
possible to the north of the boundary.
