Synopsis...

HIGH PRESSURE OVER THE GREAT LAKES TO WESTERN KENTUCKY CONTINUED TO 
PRODUCE DRY CONDITIONS AND ALMOST CLOUDLESS SKIES THIS AFTERNOON. 
THE ABUNDANT SUNSHINE...EVEN THOUGH NORTHERLY WINDS 
PREVAILED...ALLOWED TEMPERATURES TO CLIMB TO AFTERNOON READINGS FROM 
THE UPPER 70S ALONG THE LAKE ERIE SOUTH SHORE...TO THE MIDDLE TO 
UPPER 80S ACROSS THE STATE.

AN UPPER LEVEL DISTURBANCE...PRODUCING SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS 
OVER LAKE MICHIGAN...WAS DROPPING TO THE SOUTH AT THE END OF 
THE AFTERNOON...AND HAS SPREAD CLOUDS OVER THE WESTERN REGION OF THE 
STATE. THERE IS A SLIGHT CHANCE OF A SHOWER OR AN ISOLATED 
THUNDERSTORM ALONG THE OHIO AND INDIANA BORDERS WITH THIS 
DISTURBANCE OVERNIGHT. BUT FOR MOST OF THE STATE SKIES WILL BE 
MOSTLY CLEAR. TEMPERATURES OVERNIGHT WILL FALL A FEW MORE DEGREES 
BOTTOMING OUT IN THE MIDDLE 50S IN THE SOUTHEAST TO THE MIDDLE 60S 
IN THE WEST.

THE HIGH PRESSURE RIDGE WILL DRIFT SLOWLY TO THE EAST THROUGH 
FRIDAY....WITH THE SURFACE HIGH OFF TO THE EAST OF THE STATE. THIS 
WILL ALLOW A WARM FRONT TO LIFT TO THE NORTHEAST THROUGH THE STATE. 
THIS WILL ALSO PRODUCE SOUTHERLY WINDS...BRINGING HOT AND HUMID 
CONDITIONS THAT WILL BE FAVORABLE FOR A CHANCE OF AFTERNOON AND 
EVENING SCATTERED SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS. THE AFTERNOON 
TEMPERATURES WILL CLIMB TO READINGS IN THE MIDDLE 80S.

ON FRIDAY EVENING THROUGH SATURDAY MORNING...A SCATTERED SHOWER OR  
THUNDERSTORM MAY LINGER IN THE STATE...BUT WILL SLOWLY DISSIPATE 
LATE IN THE EVENING. OVERNIGHT LOWS WILL TAIL OFF TO READINGS 
RANGING FROM THE MIDDLE 60S IN THE SOUTHEAST...TO THE LOWER 70S IN 
THE NORTHWEST.

EXPECT AN INCREASING CHANCE FOR SHOWERS AND THUNDERSTORMS SATURDAY 
AND SUNDAY...AS A WEAK COLD FRONT DROPS TO THE SOUTHEAST AND  
THROUGH THE STATE. HIGH PRESSURE BUILDS BACK ACROSS THE STATE SUNDAY 
NIGHT WITH THE COLD FRONT STALLING TO THE SOUTH OF THE OHIO VALLEY. 
THE HIGH TEMPERATURES WILL REACH THE UPPER 80S TO THE LOWER 90S 
SATURDAY AND SUNDAY...THEN LEVEL OUT IN THE MIDDLE TO UPPER 80S ON 
MONDAY AND TUESDAY.

Current Agricultural Weather Conditions in Ohio

Across Ohio...temperatures are near 48 degrees north, near 47 degrees central, and near 44 degrees south. Current sky conditions are cloudy north, fair central, and fair south. In the north, relative humidity is near 56%, and the dew point is near 33 degrees. In the central part of the state, relative humidity is near 58%, and the dew point is near 33 degrees. In the south, relative humidity is near 67%, and the dew point is near 34 degrees. Winds are from the west at 13 mph north, where conditions are not favorable for spraying due to strong winds. Winds are from the west at 8 mph central, where conditions are favorable for spraying. Winds are from the west at 8 mph south, where conditions are favorable for spraying. Based on current available observations, the highest temperature is 51 degrees at Cleveland Lakefront. The lowest temperature is 41 degrees at Defiance.

 DAY ONE  Today and tonight.

Lows away from Lake Erie may fall into the low to mid 30s late
tonight into early Sunday. Patchy frost formation is possible away
from the lakeshore if a period of clear skies and light winds occurs.

 DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN  Sunday through Friday.

Low temperatures are expected to fall into the low to mid 30s away
from Lake Erie late Sunday night into early Monday, with sub-freezing
temperatures possible from far Northeast Ohio into Northwest 
Pennsylvania. Frost formation is likely away from the lakeshore. 
Frost can harm sensitive outdoor vegetation.

HISTORIC WEATHER EVENTS

A spring storm produced unusally heavy snow in northeast Ohio. Warren
received 35.5 inches in thirty-six hours, and 28 inches fell at Green Hill.
Akron OH established April records of 15.6 inches in 24 hours, and 26.6
inches for the month. Pittsburgh PA established April records of 12.7
inches in 24 hours, and 13.5 inches for the month. (David Ludlum) (The

Tornadoes in Mississippi and Alabama killed 219 persons. (David Ludlum)

An unseasonably warm and moist air mass had settled across eastern Kentucky 
leading to record breaking temperatures at the Jackson Weather Office and the 
London Corbin Airport between the 16th and 21st of April. Jackson saw several 
days in a row with record high temperatures as well as maximum low records. On 
the 19th the mercury soared to a record high of 89 degrees at Jackson and a 
record tying 87 degrees at London. The low temperature at Jackson was a balmy 69 
degrees good enough for a daily as well as a monthly maximum low temperature
