Ridge of high pressure will continue to build east into the eastern 
Great Lakes region this afternoon and linger across the area through 
Saturday morning, supporting a couple of days of cool, dry weather. 
Low pressure will then move across the southern Great Lakes late 
Saturday through early Sunday, supporting a chance of some rain and 
wet snow.

Across New York...temperatures are near 41 degrees west, near 48 degrees central, and near 48 degrees east. Current sky conditions are mostly sunny west, cloudy central, and light rain east. In the west, relative humidity is near 53%, and the dew point is near 25 degrees. In the central part of the state, relative humidity is near 34%, and the dew point is near 21 degrees. In the east, relative humidity is near 80%, and the dew point is near 42 degrees. Winds are coming from the southwest at 16 mph with gusts at 25 mph in the west, where conditions are not favorable for spraying due to strong winds. Winds are coming from the northwest at 10 mph in the central, where conditions are favorable for spraying. Winds are coming from the north at 8 mph in the east, where conditions are not favorable for spraying due to light rain. Based on current available observations, the highest temperature is 49 degrees at Elmira and Central Park. The lowest temperature is 40 degrees at Watertown, Saranac Lake, and Jamestown.

The worst tornado disaster of record occurred in Chicago IL as a tornado
killed 28 persons and caused three million dollars damage. (David Ludlum)

Ten tornadoes tore across the area, affecting the Kentucky counties of 
Adair, Metcalfe, Casey, Green, Larue, Marion, Hardin, Hart, Nelson, and 
Russell; and the Indiana counties of Scott and Jefferson. Two of the 
twisters produced F3 damage. A 28-year-old woman was killed in Metcalfe 
County as she was thrown from her destroyed mobile home. A 40-year-old man 
was killed when his house in Bonnieville (Hart County) was hit by one of 
the F3 tornadoes and blown off its foundation. This tornado injured many 
people when it caused several car accidents as it crossed Interstate 65.
