Canadian high pressure over eastern New York and western New England 
will slide east to the New England coastline today, providing us 
with a fine spring day to close out the work week. Temperatures will 
warm into the upper 50s and 60s as a return flow of milder air 
develops around the departing high. The warming trend will continue 
this weekend and into early next week, resulting in late spring to 
summerlike warmth both Sunday and Monday. While there will also be a 
few showers and thunderstorms around, particularly during Saturday, 
a fair amount of dry time can also be expected. A cold front will 
then bring our next chance for more widespread showers and a few 
thunderstorms as it crosses our region Monday night and Tuesday.

In the west, relative humidity is near 21%, and the dew point is near 18 degrees. In the central part of the state, relative humidity is near 31%, and the dew point is near 24 degrees. In the east, relative humidity is near 52%, and the dew point is near 36 degrees. Winds are coming from the east at 6 mph in the west, where conditions are favorable for spraying. Winds are coming from the north at 6 mph in the central, where conditions are favorable for spraying. Winds are coming from the northeast at 9 mph in the east, where conditions are favorable for spraying. Based on current available observations, the highest temperature is 63 degrees at Dunkirk. The lowest temperature is 48 degrees at Saranac Lake.

An unusually strong occluded front swept out of the Gulf of Alaska and
produced the first April thunderstorm of record at Fairbanks. Pea size hail
fell northeast of Fairbanks from thunderstorms whose tops were less than

Severe thunderstorms associated with an intense cyclone spawned a total of
forty-seven tornadoes in two days from Louisiana to Upper Michigan. The
