High pressure will drift east to the New England coastline tonight 
maintaining dry weather. A warm front will lift across the region
this weekend bringing some showers and perhaps a few rumbles of
thunder, especially Saturday. A warming trend this weekend into
early next week will result in late spring to summerlike warmth
both Sunday and Monday. A cold front will bring our next chance
for showers and a few thunderstorms Monday night and Tuesday.

Across New York...temperatures are near 65 degrees west, near 61 degrees central, and near 55 degrees east. Current sky conditions are mostly sunny west, mostly sunny central, and mostly sunny east. In the west, relative humidity is near 24%, and the dew point is near 28 degrees. In the central part of the state, relative humidity is near 23%, and the dew point is near 23 degrees. In the east, relative humidity is near 34%, and the dew point is near 27 degrees. Winds are coming from the east at 20 mph in the west, where conditions are not favorable for spraying due to strong winds. Winds are variable at 3 mph in the central, where conditions are favorable for spraying. Winds are coming from the south at 14 mph in the east, where conditions are not favorable for spraying due to strong winds. Based on current available observations, the highest temperature is 66 degrees at Elmira. The lowest temperature is 52 degrees at Islip.

An unusually strong occluded front swept out of the Gulf of Alaska and
produced the first April thunderstorm of record at Fairbanks. Pea size hail
fell northeast of Fairbanks from thunderstorms whose tops were less than

Severe thunderstorms associated with an intense cyclone spawned a total of
forty-seven tornadoes in two days from Louisiana to Upper Michigan. The
