Across Nebraska...temperatures are near 37 degrees west, near 41 degrees central, and near 43 degrees east. Current sky conditions are mostly sunny west, sunny central, and partly sunny east. In the west, relative humidity is near 59%, and the dew point is near 24 degrees. In the central part of the state, relative humidity is near 60%, and the dew point is near 28 degrees. In the east, relative humidity is near 71%, and the dew point is near 34 degrees. Winds are calm west, where conditions are favorable for spraying. Winds are from the west at 10 mph central, where conditions are favorable for spraying. Winds are from the southwest at 16 mph east, where conditions are not favorable for spraying due to strong winds. Based on current available observations, the highest temperature is 43 degrees at HOLDREGE and FALLS CITY. The lowest temperature is 24 degrees at WAYNE.

The worst tornado disaster of record occurred in Chicago IL as a tornado
killed 28 persons and caused three million dollars damage. (David Ludlum)
...1997...
Ten tornadoes tore across the area, affecting the Kentucky counties of 
Adair, Metcalfe, Casey, Green, Larue, Marion, Hardin, Hart, Nelson, and 
Russell; and the Indiana counties of Scott and Jefferson. Two of the 
twisters produced F3 damage. A 28-year-old woman was killed in Metcalfe 
County as she was thrown from her destroyed mobile home. A 40-year-old man 
was killed when his house in Bonnieville (Hart County) was hit by one of 
the F3 tornadoes and blown off its foundation. This tornado injured many 
people when it caused several car accidents as it crossed Interstate 65.
