Across North Carolina...temperatures are near 49 degrees west, near 49 degrees central, and near 56 degrees east. Current sky conditions are mostly cloudy west, cloudy central, and cloudy east. In the west, relative humidity is near 65%, and the dew point is near 38 degrees. In the central part of the state, relative humidity is near 97%, and the dew point is near 48 degrees. In the east, relative humidity is near 97%, and the dew point is near 55 degrees. Winds are from the north at 9 mph west, where conditions are favorable for spraying. Winds are from the north at 8 mph central, where conditions are favorable for spraying. Winds are calm east, where conditions are favorable for spraying. Based on current available observations, the highest temperature is 67 degrees at Beaufort. The lowest temperature is 43 degrees at Jefferson.

HISTORIC WEATHER EVENTS

Thane Creek AK reported a snow cover of 190 inches. (The Weather Channel)
...1920...
The worst tornado disaster of record occurred in Chicago IL as a tornado
killed 28 persons and caused three million dollars damage. (David Ludlum)
...1997...
Ten tornadoes tore across the area, affecting the Kentucky counties of 
Adair, Metcalfe, Casey, Green, Larue, Marion, Hardin, Hart, Nelson, and 
Russell; and the Indiana counties of Scott and Jefferson. Two of the 
twisters produced F3 damage. A 28-year-old woman was killed in Metcalfe 
County as she was thrown from her destroyed mobile home. A 40-year-old man 
was killed when his house in Bonnieville (Hart County) was hit by one of 
the F3 tornadoes and blown off its foundation. This tornado injured many 
people when it caused several car accidents as it crossed Interstate 65.
