High pressure will continue to build over the region today. As 
winds turn to the southwest on Saturday a warming trend can be 
expected over the weekend into early next week. A weak front 
will bring a few showers Saturday night into Sunday. Monday will
be warm away from the coast, with cooler temperatures along the
coast where an onshore flow of cooler air will develop. Expect 
a better chance of showers on Tuesday along with cooler
temperatures.

Across Maine...temperatures are near 29 degrees north, near 28 degrees central, and near 22 degrees south. Current sky conditions are clear north, clear central, and clear south. In the north, relative humidity is near 53%, and the dew point is near 14 degrees. In the central part of the state, relative humidity is near 69%, and the dew point is near 19 degrees. In the south, relative humidity is near 96%, and the dew point is near 21 degrees. Winds are from the northwest at 7 mph north, where conditions are favorable for spraying. Winds are from the northwest at 5 mph central, where conditions are favorable for spraying. Winds are from the west at 3 mph south, where conditions are favorable for spraying. Based on current available observations, the highest temperature is 28 degrees at Waterville, Rockland, and Millinocket. The lowest temperature is 22 degrees at Sanford, Presque Isle, Houlton, and Fryeburg.

Killer frosts were reported in the Deep South. The frost was quite severe
around Huntsville AL, and highlighted a backward spring in the South that

An unusually strong occluded front swept out of the Gulf of Alaska and
produced the first April thunderstorm of record at Fairbanks. Pea size hail
fell northeast of Fairbanks from thunderstorms whose tops were less than

Severe thunderstorms associated with an intense cyclone spawned a total of
forty-seven tornadoes in two days from Louisiana to Upper Michigan. The
