Across Kentucky...temperatures are near 52 degrees west, near 51 degrees central, and near 50 degrees east. Current sky conditions are sunny west, sunny central, and partly sunny east. In the west, relative humidity is near 54%, and the dew point is near 36 degrees. In the central part of the state, relative humidity is near 56%, and the dew point is near 36 degrees. In the east, relative humidity is near 56%, and the dew point is near 35 degrees. Current drying conditions are fair west, fair central, and fair east. Winds are from the north at 12 mph with gusts at 18 mph west, where conditions are not favorable for spraying due to strong winds. Winds are from the northwest at 10 mph central, where conditions are favorable for spraying. Winds are from the northwest at 6 mph east, where conditions are favorable for spraying. Based on current available observations, the highest temperature is 54 degrees at Somerset. The lowest temperature is 49 degrees at Covington.

Patchy frost is possible across far northern portions of southern
Illinois late tonight.

 DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN  Sunday through Friday

Areas of frost are possible across much of the region Sunday 
night into Monday morning as temperatures fall into the mid to 
upper 30s.

A few thunderstorms are possible Tuesday afternoon or evening. 
The main hazards would be brief heavy rain and lightning.
Additional thunderstorm chances may return Thursday night into
Friday.

Temperatures for the period averaged 67 degrees across the state which was 10 degrees warmer than normal and 10 degrees warmer than the previous period. High temperatures averaged from 79 in the West to 79 in the East. Departure from normal high temperatures ranged from 9 degrees warmer than normal in the West to 10 degrees warmer than normal in the East. Low temperatures averaged from 57 degrees in the West to 55 degrees in the East. Departure from normal low temperature ranged from 10 degrees warmer than normal in the West to 13 degrees warmer than normal in the East. The extreme high temperature for the period was 89 degrees at KOOMER RIDGE and the extreme low was 34 degrees at BURKESVILLE 3W.

Precipitation (liq. equ.) for the period totaled 0.68 inches statewide which was 0.44 inches below normal and 60% of normal. Precipitation totals by climate division, West 0.90 inches, Central 0.80 inches, Bluegrass 0.63 inches and East 0.37 inches, which was 0.34, 0.35, 0.44 and 0.67 inches below normal. By station, precipitation totals ranged from a low of 0.00 inches at YELLOW CREEK to a high of 2.81 inches at EVANSVILLE ASOS.

HISTORIC WEATHER EVENTS

A spring storm produced unusally heavy snow in northeast Ohio. Warren
received 35.5 inches in thirty-six hours, and 28 inches fell at Green Hill.
Akron OH established April records of 15.6 inches in 24 hours, and 26.6
inches for the month. Pittsburgh PA established April records of 12.7
inches in 24 hours, and 13.5 inches for the month. (David Ludlum) (The

An unseasonably warm and moist air mass had settled across eastern Kentucky 
leading to record breaking temperatures at the Jackson Weather Office and the 
London Corbin Airport between the 16th and 21st of April. Jackson saw several 
days in a row with record high temperatures as well as maximum low records. On 
the 19th the mercury soared to a record high of 89 degrees at Jackson and a 
record tying 87 degrees at London. The low temperature at Jackson was a balmy 69 
degrees good enough for a daily as well as a monthly maximum low temperature
