Across Kansas...temperatures are near 65 degrees west, near 62 degrees central, and near 70 degrees east. Current sky conditions are sunny west, partly sunny central, and sunny east. In the west, relative humidity is near 14%, and the dew point is near 15 degrees. In the central part of the state, relative humidity is near 44%, and the dew point is near 40 degrees. In the east, relative humidity is near 25%, and the dew point is near 33 degrees. Winds are from the south at 7 mph with gusts at 17 mph west, where conditions are not favorable for spraying due to strong winds. Winds are from the south at 17 mph with gusts at 28 mph central, where conditions are not favorable for spraying due to strong winds. Winds are from the southwest at 18 mph with gusts at 28 mph east, where conditions are not favorable for spraying due to strong winds. The worst tornado disaster of record occurred in Chicago IL as a tornado
killed 28 persons and caused three million dollars damage. (David Ludlum)
...1997...
Ten tornadoes tore across the area, affecting the Kentucky counties of 
Adair, Metcalfe, Casey, Green, Larue, Marion, Hardin, Hart, Nelson, and 
Russell; and the Indiana counties of Scott and Jefferson. Two of the 
twisters produced F3 damage. A 28-year-old woman was killed in Metcalfe 
County as she was thrown from her destroyed mobile home. A 40-year-old man 
was killed when his house in Bonnieville (Hart County) was hit by one of 
the F3 tornadoes and blown off its foundation. This tornado injured many 
people when it caused several car accidents as it crossed Interstate 65.
