Current sky conditions are mostly sunny north, sunny central, and sunny south. In the north, relative humidity is near 47%, and the dew point is near 26 degrees. In the central part of the state, relative humidity is near 40%, and the dew point is near 33 degrees. In the south, relative humidity is near 42%, and the dew point is near 35 degrees. Winds are from the southwest at 13 mph north, where conditions are not favorable for spraying due to strong winds. No hazardous weather is expected at this time. DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN Friday through Wednesday. Occasional thunderstorms are possible Friday night through Tuesday. A few strong thunderstorms with hail are possible Friday night mainly north of I-72, but chances of 1 inch or larger hail are around 5 percent or less. Higher chances for severe weather including locally damaging wind gusts, large hail, and a threat of a few tornadoes look to develop Sunday evening into Tuesday afternoon, highest Monday afternoon or evening. Thane Creek AK reported a snow cover of 190 inches. (The Weather Channel) ...1920... The worst tornado disaster of record occurred in Chicago IL as a tornado killed 28 persons and caused three million dollars damage. (David Ludlum) ...1997... Ten tornadoes tore across the area, affecting the Kentucky counties of Adair, Metcalfe, Casey, Green, Larue, Marion, Hardin, Hart, Nelson, and Russell; and the Indiana counties of Scott and Jefferson. Two of the twisters produced F3 damage. A 28-year-old woman was killed in Metcalfe County as she was thrown from her destroyed mobile home. A 40-year-old man was killed when his house in Bonnieville (Hart County) was hit by one of the F3 tornadoes and blown off its foundation. This tornado injured many people when it caused several car accidents as it crossed Interstate 65.
