Today:

A quiet night across the area with mid and upper level clouds moving
over Iowa. Temperatures have remained mild compared to previous
nights this week, in the 30s and even low 40s across much of the area.
Far northeast Iowa has been colder in the low 20s. Winds early this 
morning have been out of the east at 5 to 10 mph.

This afternoon will be the warmest of the week as temperatures warm
through 50s and 60s, even reaching the low 70s in parts of southern
Iowa. Expect patchy cloud cover today, increasing into the late
afternoon. 

Tonight and beyond:

This evening a few showers and thunderstorms are possible, mainly 
across southern and eastern Iowa. Cooler and dry on Saturday with
highs in the 50s. Similar temperatures on Sunday, however expect
soggier conditions. Showers and thunderstorms are forecast, especially
into the afternoon. These will continue into Monday before finally
tapering on Tuesday next week. The rest of the upcoming week looks to
remain dry with gradual warming temperatures.

Across Iowa...temperatures are near 40 degrees west, near 41 degrees central, and near 34 degrees east. Current sky conditions are mostly cloudy west, cloudy central, and partly cloudy east. In the west, relative humidity is near 76%, and the dew point is near 33 degrees. In the central part of the state, relative humidity is near 62%, and the dew point is near 29 degrees. In the east, relative humidity is near 67%, and the dew point is near 24 degrees. Winds are from the east at 9 mph west, where conditions are favorable for spraying. The wind chill is near 34 degrees west. Winds are from the east at 9 mph central, where conditions are favorable for spraying. Winds are from the east at 6 mph east, where conditions are favorable for spraying. The wind chill is near 29 degrees east. Based on current available observations, the highest temperature is 47 degrees at Lamoni. The lowest temperature is 31 degrees at Estherville.

 DAY ONE  Today and tonight

A few non-severe thunderstorms are possible across southeast Iowa
this evening.

 DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN  Saturday through Thursday

Additional thunderstorms are also possible Sunday, and then again
central and south Sunday night through Monday. A few stronger
thunderstorms are possible, however the threat for severe weather
early next week will be better determined in the coming days.
