Current Agricultural Weather Conditions in Colorado
Based on observations at 1000pm MDT, Friday April 26, 2024

Across Colorado...temperatures are near 50 degrees west, near 48 degrees central, and near 57 degrees east. Current sky conditions are mostly cloudy west, rain central, and fair east. In the west, relative humidity is near 68%, and the dew point is near 40 degrees. In the central part of the state, relative humidity is near 86%, and the dew point is near 44 degrees. In the east, relative humidity is near 51%, and the dew point is near 39 degrees. Winds are from the east at 9 mph west, where conditions are favorable for spraying. Winds are from the northwest at 10 mph central, where conditions are not favorable for spraying due to rain. Winds are from the east at 8 mph east, where conditions are favorable for spraying. Based on current available observations, the highest temperature is 59 degrees at BURLINGTON. The lowest temperature is 25 degrees at MONARCH PASS.

Hazardous Weather Outlook For SOUTHERN SAN LUIS County,CO

 DAY ONE  Today and Tonight

An upper-level system will move into the area this afternoon. Snow 
will begin over the mountains, increasing in coverage and 
intensity through tonight and into Saturday. Meanwhile, showers 
and some thunderstorms are expected across most of the eastern 
plains starting late this afternoon. The main impacts with
thunderstorms will be locally heavy rainfall and lightning. Heavy
snowfall will be possible late tonight over the mountains with the
heaviest falling north of highway 50.  

 DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN  Saturday through Thursday

Snow will fall heavy at times across the higher terrain tomorrow 
into early Sunday morning. Highest amounts are expected over the 
eastern San Juan Mountains, Sawatch Range, and the Pikes peak 
Region, where there can be accumulations between 12 and 24 inches 
with the heaviest amounts across Pikes Peak. Showers and 
thunderstorms will move out over the plains tomorrow, some periods
of heavy rain will be possible along portions of the I-25 
corridor, especially in El Paso County with a few strong storms
possible across the southeast plains north of highway 50. Hail up
to 1 inch in diameter, heavy rainfall and lightning will be the
primary storm risks. A brief weak tornado can not be ruled out.

Another storm later in the week could bring a quick shot of 
precipitation back to portions of the area, mainly north of
Highway 50.

days with measurable precipitation, a record.

A destructive tornado swept across Rogers County and Mayes County in
Oklahoma. The tornado struck the town of Pryor killing 52 persons and
causing two million dollars damage. (David Ludlum)

A tornado tore through Green and Adair counties with F4 
damage in its wake. Two and a half million dollars in damage 
was done along the 14 mile long path. Six people were killed 
and 58 hurt. The twister dropped to earth near Bramlett and 
proceeded to Vester and Christine. The six fatalities 
occurred in the Mount Pleasant Church area along KY 551 north 
of Columbia. In Butler and Warren counties a tornado did F3 
damage, killing one person and costing two and a half million 
dollars. South View (Butler County) and Riverside (Warren 
County) were struck. A tornado of F1 strength injured 2 
people in Harrison County IN between Mauckport and Laconia. 
Debris from a demolished barn was carried a quarter mile. An 
F3 tornado did damage in Ohio and Butler counties. It touched 
down near Island Lake along Wysox Road in Ohio County and 
moved east near Logansport and Little Bend, lifting just 
outside of Morgantown. An asphalt shingle was found embedded 
two inches deep into an oak tree. An F4 tornado killed two 
people in Russell County. It began east of Russell Springs 
and moved through Salem to Faubush. The two fatalities 
occurred when a farm was swept away at Gosser Ridge near 
Dorena. At one point there were actually two distinct paths, 
as two funnels moved parallel to each other. (NWS Louisville)
